Canberra have again toppled the Dolphins, roaring home in the second half to secure a 40-28 win in their Sunday afternoon NRL clash.

The past two battles between the teams had been decided in golden point - both in the Raiders' favour - but in their first meeting at GIO Stadium the green machine came up  with the goods in emphatic style.

Kristian Woolf's visitors looked in great shape at halftime with a 28-10 lead, appearing on track to set a new club benchmark of four successive wins.

Canberra have overcome a shock first-half onslaught, coming from 18 points down to secure the 40-28 victory over a red-hot Dolphins outfit on Sunday afternoon.

After a slow start that saw Kodi Nikorima sin binned for a high tackle and Savelio Tamale open the scoring, the visitors bounced back in style at GIO Stadium.

Nikorima and halves partner Isaiya Katoa were at their classy best with ball in hand, while Jake Averillo and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow showed off their speed and X-factor as the Dolphins took a 28-10 lead into the half-time break.

Daniel Saifiti scored a controversial try, surprising fans amid boos from the Raiders' crowd.

Dolphins enforcer Daniel Saifiti has awarded a bizarre try that left him "surprised" as a wave of boos rang out around GIO Stadium from the Raiders' faithful.

Steaming on to a short ball from stand-in hooker Sean O'Sullivan, the prop juggled the ball before regathering and grounding it over the try line to take a 18-4 lead.

Referee Ashley Klein sent the effort up as a no try, convinced the ball touched a Raiders defender's hand as they attempted to make a tackle.
