The Eels look set to be without
Maika Sivo
for their season opener against the Bulldogs after the winger was charged with a grade two careless high tackle from Parramatta's trial game on Sunday.

The incident in question came in the 57th minute of the Eels' win as the Titans spread the ball to their right edge, with AJ Brimson quickly shifting it onto winger Phillip Sami.

The Gold Coast was able to keep the play going until an offload to Alofiana Khan-Pereira saw the Titans speedster race over to score.

As the 2024 NRL season begins this weekend, the Parramatta Eels have been dealt a significant loss, with star winger Maika Sivo being charged by the Match Review Committee (MRC).

The MRC has charged Sivo with a Grade 2 Careless High Tackle after a tackle against Gold Coast Titans centre AJ Brimson in the 57th minute of the club's final trial match before the season begins.

A fitter and leaner Josh Papali'i has sent a warning sign to his rivals in his first hit out of the 2024 season.

The Canberra Raiders prop produced an impressive 20 minute stint during Sunday's trial against the North Queensland Cowboys at Seiffert Oval.

Papali'i ran for 79 metres from seven carries to lay the foundation for his side's early 14-4 lead. The veteran has endured a gruelling pre-season, shedding multiple kilograms to ensure his body is firing throughout the season.
