NRL transfer hub: Dragons miss out again as Raiders reject release request

St George Illawarra's recruitment drive has hit another snag after the Canberra Raiders rejected a release request from hooker Zac Woolford to immediately move to the Dragons.
A Raiders official confirmed they had denied the switch to the Dragons, who want more options in their dummy-half ranks alongside Jacob Liddle.

Woolford, who has fallen behind Danny Levi and Tom Starling in the Raiders' pecking order, was given permission by the club to explore his options in September.
The recent de-registration of five-eighth Junior Amone created the opening at the Dragons.

New Raider Zac Hosking 'begged' Penrith for early release

Preparing to play for his third NRL club in as many years, Canberra signing Zac Hosking says he can see similarities between his new side and all-conquering Penrith.
The second-rower says he "begged" the Panthers to release him from the last year of his contact so he could join the Raiders, something the three-time reigning champions granted him last week.
Hosking joined Penrith from Brisbane ahead of the 2023 campaign but had to watch on from the reserves list when the two teams met in September's grand final.

'I'll back him': Stewart goes from junior speed demon to NRL threat

Teen speedster Chevy Stewart has been backed to break into the NRL this year as the electric fullback draws on his junior years as a sprinter to spark the Green Machine.
Once one of the fastest nine year olds in NSW, Stewart has emerged as a genuine starting option for the Raiders this year after a standout NSW Cup season and strong pre-season campaign.
His rise gives Raiders coach Ricky Stuart plenty of options as the start of the season gets closer, with Sebastian Kris, Xavier Savage and Stewart all contenders for the No. 1 jersey.
