    The Canberra Raiders are mourning the death of Troy Dargan after the halfback died in an accident on Christmas Eve.

    The 26-year-old was on holidays in the Cook Islands with his family when he was involved in a motorcycle accident.

    Dargan made his NRL debut for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2020, playing two games for the club before joining Manly reserve grade side Blacktown Workers last season.

    Raiders recruit Troy Dargan dies in motorcycle crash in Cook Islands

    Canberra Raiders recruit Troy Dargan has died in a motorcycle accident while holidaying in the Cook Islands.

    Dargan played two NRL games, both for South Sydney in 2020, and had joined Canberra on a two-year contract for the upcoming season.

    The playmaker's management Aria Sports Group confirmed the news via social media on Christmas Day.

    Dargan, affectionately nicknamed "TJ", was 26.

    "On behalf of the Dargan family, it is with a heavy heart that we share the news of TJ's tragic passing overnight," a statement from Aria Sports Group read.

    Canberra Raiders player Troy Dargan has passed away overnight after being involved in a tragic motorcycle accident.

    "On behalf of the Dargan family, it is with a heavy heart that we share the news of TJ's tragic passing over night," his player agency, Aria Sports Group, posted on Instagram to notify others of the unfortunate news.

    "He and his family were holidaying in the Cook Island where TJ was involved in a motorcycle accident.
