NRL powerbrokers have made it clear that former Canberra Raiders centre Curtis Scott will not be allowed to return to the league in 2024.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Scott had been in discussions with one club regarding a contract, but no official deal was reportedly put forward to league bosses.

As a result, the disgraced star is now reportedly considering a Super League switch or even a cross-code switch to rugby union.

Scott, who won a premiership with the Storm in 2017, was found guilty of three charges in 2022 against his ex-partner.

New Zealand's loss is now officially the NSW Blues' gain, with Canberra Raiders assistant coach Michael Maguire announced as State of Origin coach on Thursday.

Maguire has signed on a "multi-year" deal, having last week been forced to step down as Kiwis coach.

New Canberra Raiders recruit Simi Sasagi only needs to look at the rise of childhood mate Matt Timoko to see the potential within reach in the capital.

Auckland-born Sasagi has not come to Canberra just to add depth to the squad.

He wants to become a key player in the team and hopes the Raiders can help him wear the New Zealand jersey in the near future, just like Timoko, with whom he played junior footy.
