Raiders forward Elliott Whitehead has announced that he will be retiring from international rugby league after England's upcoming Test against Tonga.
Whitehead, who hails from Bradford, will be earning his 27th cap for England during the match.
His international career began in 2014 when he made his debut against New Zealand.
Since then, he has had the privilege of representing his country in both the 2017 and 2021 Rugby League World Cups.
According to a report by news.com.au, Queensland legend Mal Meninga has expressed his support for Michael Maguire to take on the New South Wales (NSW) coaching role for 2024.
Meninga, who was instrumental in Queensland's eight consecutive State of Origin series wins, believes that Maguire would excel in the position.
Despite currently coaching the New Zealand national team and working as an assistant with the Canberra Raiders, Maguire is considered a strong candidate for the vacant Blues job.
While no official announcement has been made, it is expected that the decision regarding the NSW coaching role will be made after Maguire completes his duties with the New Zealand team in the Pacific Championships final in Hamilton.
The Canberra Raiders have received a double boost just days after enforcer Josh Papali'i vowed to prove he's still one of the best in the business.
They've locked in the next generation of middle forwards for a further two years with both Ata Mariota and Hohepa Puru re-signing until the end of 2026.
It comes as the Green Machine has also put an offer to lock down versatile outside back James Schiller.
