The Raiders went within inches of pulling off one of the upsets of the season, taking the red-hot Newcastle Knights all the way to extra-time and only going down 30-28 at a rabid Newcastle on Sunday.

The New Zealand Warriors have secured their first NRL home final in 15 years, which will take place at Go Media Stadium on Saturday, September 16.

This will be the club's fourth final at home, with previous matches against Canberra in 2002, Parramatta in 2007, and the Sydney Roosters in 2008.

After a 6-32 loss to the Penrith Panthers, all attention turned to the last week one finals clash between the Knights and Canberra.

In an intense battle, the score was tied at 28-28 before the Knights kicked a penalty to secure a 30-28 victory in extra time.
