Jack Wighton was stung by a stunning allegation in his final game in a Raiders jumper, being accused by Tyson Gamble of biting the Knights five-eighth.
Early in the second half of the elimination final in Newcastle, won by the Knights 30-28, Gamble tackled Wighton and sprung back to his feet exasperated, pointing to his left arm and alleging to referee Ashley Klein that the Canberra superstar had bitten him.
"There's a mark!" Gamble screamed.
A moment of madness has left a big mark - metaphorically and literally - on Sunday's elimination final between the Knights and Raiders in Canberra.
The fifth-placed Knights came into the knockout final as one of the form teams of the competition riding an eight-game winning streak.
It was a different story for Ricky Stuart's Raiders, who lost four of their final six games of the season to scrape into the post-season in eighth place.

Raiders star Jack Wighton was placed on report but allowed to stay on the field for an alleged bite on Tyson Gamble which is certain to earn the ire of the match review committee.
An incensed Gamble rushed up to referee Ashley Klein adamant that he had been bitten by the Canberra veteran in the 47th minute.
A close-up shot showed a clear mark on his left arm, but Klein consulted with the Bunker and opted to place the incident on report given he wasn't certain that it was a definite bite.
"I can't move my mouth. He's got to move his arm," Wighton protested.
