The Newcastle Knights have reportedly tabled a new contract extension to two of their most experienced players on their roster in an attempt to keep them on their books for the 2026 NRL season.

Over the past 12 months, the Newcastle Knights have decided to rebuild their roster, offloading several players, including Daniel Saifiti and Jayden Brailey, while making several new signings, headlined by the arrival of New Zealand international Dylan Brown next season.

Kristian Woolf has highlighted the performance of a Dolphins young gun who made his debut last round as two more members of the club's squad have joined their growing injury list.

A late inclusion into the line-up last week, Tevita Naufahu made his NRL debut against the Cronulla Sharks and is one of the next breed of players coming through the club's ranks.

However, he unfortunately made a fatal error in the game's closing moments, dropping the ball in mid-air just before the Sharks crossed the line, thereby cementing their victory.

Newcastle Knights may sack coach Adam O'Brien, currently 13th on the NRL ladder with six wins.

The Newcastle Knights are reportedly set to make a call on the coaching future of Adam O'Brien as the club currently sits in 13th place on the NRL ladder with only six wins this season.

Appointed head coach of the Knights in 2020 after stints with the Melbourne Storm and Sydney Roosters as an assistant coach, O'Brien has only managed to win 62 out of a possible 137 matches, holding a 45 per cent winning record.

Preparing for the future, The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the Newcastle Knights are set to part ways with O'Brien at the end of the 2025 NRL season, with club powerbrokers beginning to make internal plans to sack him.
