    ‘Never the way I thought it would end’: NRL veteran Josh Hodgson medically retired

    NRL veteran Josh Hodgson has confirmed he's been medically retired and will hang up the boots, bringing his decorated 14-year career to an end.

    Hodgson arrived in the NRL from the Super League when he left Hull to join the Raiders ahead of the 2015 NRL season.

    The Englishman co-captained Canberra to their first grand final in 25 years in 2019 when the Green Machine fell agonisingly short against the Roosters.

    Friday night will be a special occasion for two young rugby league players, Kit Laulilii and Josh Feledy, as they make their NRL debuts.

    Laulilii, who has come through the Wests Tigers pathways as a junior, first started his journey with the Liverpool Catholic Club Raiders at the age of five.

    He was even the captain of the Magpies team last year, leading them to an undefeated season and claiming the Harold Matthews Cup premiership.

    Laulilii's achievement of making it to the NRL follows in the footsteps of Tallyn Da Silva, who was also a part of the undefeated Magpies team.

    Nick Cotric needs to be prepared for anything on Sunday, as the Raiders' backline musical chairs continues, with Jack Wighton starting in Jarrod Croker's usual centre position again while the veteran is on the bench.

    Ricky Stuart kept everyone guessing until kick-off against the Broncos. Wighton was initially named fullback before Jordan Rapana switched there from the wing and the former was left centre. Sebastian Kris also returned from a hamstring injury with Wighton, but was on the wing, not at fullback, and Croker played only three minutes.
