    Most NRL fans probably wouldn't think twice about players like Jordan Rapana getting fined a few thousand dollars.

    It's $3000 instead of a match suspension, and all these NRL players are millionaires - right?

    But after Rapana's latest offence for tripping tipped his fines total to $9000 in the last month, teammate Elliott Whitehead questioned the eye-watering amounts charged by the NRL match review committee.

  • Hohepa Puru named to debut as Raiders lose Josh Papali'i

    A young star will make his NRL debut for the Raiders in their crucial clash against the the Sharks on Sunday afternoon.

    Hohepa Puru has been named on the bench to make his debut and will become Raider #392. The 21-year-old joined the Raiders from Penrith at the end of last year and has impressed playing lock at NSW Cup level.

    The Raiders have stuck with the same reshuffle they deployed in last week's loss to Brisbane, with Jordan Rapana at fullback, Seb Kris on the wing, Jack Wighton at centre, Matt Frawley at five-eighth and Jarrod Croker on the bench.

    NRL teams: Canberra Raiders' Josh Papali'i out for season, Hohepa Puru named to make debut

    The Raiders' finals hopes have been dealt a major blow with Josh Papali'i ruled out for the remainder of the NRL season, as Ricky Stuart named an intriguing squad to take on Cronulla.

    Papali'i underwent surgery on Tuesday for a bicep tendon injury suffered in Canberra's loss to the Broncos and faces a recovery time of approximately three to four months, according to the club.

    It rules the prop out of Sunday's must-win clash with the Sharks and any finals footy that the Raiders play in the coming weeks.
