Newcastle halfback Jesse Southwell has inspired a 20-12 come-from-behind defeat of Canberra that all but confirms the Knights will play NRLW finals for a second consecutive year.

Compounding the Raiders' home loss, inspirational co-captain Simaima Taufa appeared to injure her right shoulder attempting a tackle in the second half at GIO Stadium on Saturday.

She managed to play through the pain despite reeling out of the contact in significant pain, clutching the same shoulder she hurt during the grand final of the NSWRL Women's Premiership in May.

Corey Harawira-Naera's season is officially over with the Canberra Raiders versatile forward undergoing further heart tests in Sydney.

The Raiders medical staff have decided to stand the 28-year-old down from training as they look to tick all the boxes and ensure a healthy comeback for him from his frightening seizure in May.

They've already cleared him from a concussion and cognitive perspective, now they're working to do the same from a heart perspective.

It's a simple equation for Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart. They're playing for a home semi-final - regardless of other results.

But Stuart warned his players their focus can't be on the result - it has to be on doing what they need to to play well against Cronulla at Shark Park on Sunday.
