The Raiders have fallen short in their first ever NRLW match, losing to an impressive Cronulla side 28-14 in Sydney.

Five years after being controversially denied entry to the competition, Cronulla piled on six tries to three at PointsBet Stadium with NSW State of Origin stars Emma Tonegato and hooker Quincy Dodd, and exciting teenage fullback Jada Taylor the stand-outs.

Tonegato made the shift from fullback to five-eighth to accommodate Taylor's inclusion and controlled the game with aplomb while also etching her name in the history books as Cronulla's first-ever NRLW try-scorer.

Canberra Raiders star Jarrod Croker celebrated a different kind of victory on Saturday night when his trotter Majestic Trio claimed the group 1 Queensland Trotters Cup.

Trainer-driver Brad Hewitt expertly steered Majestic Trio to her first group 1 victory, settling midfield before finding clear air rounding the final turn. Once in the straight, the mare surged past her rivals to win by a length.

Croker has long supported Hewitt's stable and owns a number of trotters and thoroughbreds.

Canberra Raiders hooker Danny Levi has re-committed to the club after signing an extension until 2025.

It's been a busy week for the dummy-half, who was recently attracting interest from Super League clubs Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC.

Stuck in NSW Cup since recovering from a broken jaw early in the NRL season, Levi had been exploring his options to potentially leave the capital with a year and a half left on his contract and return to England.
