Luke Bateman may be used to playing the field when it comes to NRL, but the former Raider is looking to score when it comes to his love life.

Bateman is ready to turn on his country boy charm as he joins Wesley Senna Cortes and Ben Waddell in this upcoming season of The Bachelors.

Following on from Network 10's first foray into the multiple suitors in last year's season, The Bachelors promises its most swoon-worthy season yet.

Bateman, 28, played with the Raiders up until 2019 when the popular prop ended his time wearing lime green. It was a sudden end to his 71-game NRL career, hampered by a knee injury.

Zero Tackle

Former rugby league forward Luke Bateman has been announced as one of three bachelors to take part in the reality television show The Bachelors Australia.

Known for his time with the Canberra Raiders, Bateman played for the club between 2015-2019, appearing in 71 NRL games.

The lock forward is also a former rugby league skipper and junior Origin representative- captaining the Raiders NYC team and playing for the U20s Queensland side in 2013 and 2014.

Scoring a try during the 2014 U20s match between the two states, he played alongside the likes of Valentine Holmes, Cameron Munster, Christian Welch and Anthony Milford.

Unfortunately, his NRL career came to an abrupt end at the end of 2019 after he suffered a significant knee injury. A year later, he retired from the competition due to the expiry of his contract and the COVID pandemic.

Canberra will allow Ricky Stuart to coach NSW - but there would be a caveat.

While a decision on the Blues' coaching position won't be finalised until October, Stuart has been touted as a possible replacement should incumbent Brad Fittler be sacked or quit.

It comes as Fittler refused to declare his intention to seek the NSW coaching position again for next year.

Out of respect for Fittler, his friend and former teammate, Stuart has refused to express a desire for the NSW job.

Some NRL clubs may deny their coach taking on the heavy burden of coaching NSW but Canberra won't stop Stuart if he is given the top job.

That however would depend on whether Stuart has his experienced existing assistant coaches - Michael Maguire and Mick Crawley - at the Raiders.
