The Canberra Raiders NRLW side have fallen agonizingly short against the Parramatta Eels, going down 18-16 at GIO Stadium Canberra on Sunday arvo.

In a crucial clash as the season nears its end, the Green Machine were looking to send shockwaves through the competition and keep their finals dreams alive.

However, they were unable to overcome a formidable Eels outfit.

The Eels came out of the blocks like a bat out of hell, with second rower Mahalia Murphy crashing over on the left edge in the tenth minute to open the scoring and take a 6-0 lead.

The Parramatta back-rower - who has represented the Wallaroos and Australia's sevens team - scored the opening try and boasts a long ball any forward would yearn to have in their arsenal.

PNG Jukebox Elsie Albert, NRLW star and botanist, charged into Raiders at Canberra Stadium.

They call her the 'PNG Jukebox', because the hits just keep coming.

Elsie Albert is one of the NRLW's most devastating talents who doubles as the game's resident botanist. The front-rower was sent off minutes into her first game of rugby league because, as they said, you can't play in bare feet.

Come Sunday the Parramatta Eels prop's 95-kilogram frame will be charging into the Raiders' defence at Canberra Stadium.
