SEVEN potential landing spots for Bronson Xerri

Bronson Xerri faces scrutiny after being dropped from Canterbury Bulldogs, with rumored release requests and interest from other clubs.

    Zero Tackle

Bronson Xerri's name has lived in the headlines in recent days following his axing and apparent release request from the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Dropped from Canterbury's 22-man squad for their Round 3 clash with the Canberra Raiders, the star centre has had everything from being unhappy with a switch of sides, to unhappy with a demotion to the NSW Cup levelled against him.

The Bulldogs, through ever talkative director of football Phil Gould, have claimed Xerri hasn't asked for a release, but where there is smoke, there is generally fire.

It's understood plenty of clubs have already made inquiries with his management. It's not every day that a centre of his calibre comes up as a potential to leave their current club, if not immediately, then certainly at the end of the season.

Canberra's NSW cup side have concluded their two game away stretch to begin the season, going down to the Warriors 44-12 at Go Media Stadium, Auckland.

The game started off with both teams conceding early errors whilst in possession, before back-to-back set restarts saw Warriors winger, Alofiana Khan-Pereira open the scoring.

Shortly after the restart, Canberra fullback Ethan Alaia was unable to clean up the ball off the back of infield kick, allowing Warrior's centre Caelys-Paul Putoko to score the second try of the match.

Canberra faces a setback with Matty Nicholson out for five months and Josh Papali'i sidelined, as they prepare to face the Warriors.

    The Canberra Times

Canberra's second-row depth has suffered a major blow with emerging star Matty Nicholson ruled out for up to five months with a shoulder injury.

After sustaining a subluxation in pre-season trials, the 22-year-old reinjured his shoulder in NSW Cup action last Saturday and on Thursday, the Raiders confirmed he would require surgery.

It comes after coach Ricky Stuart urged Canberra to turn the dial up as they'll miss veteran enforcer Josh Papali'i due to concussion against the Warriors in Auckland.

The most-capped Raider will leave a big hole for the visitors, who face the boisterous atmosphere that the Sydney Roosters struggled to overcome in their 42-18 loss to a dominant Warriors a week ago.
