Manly not pursuing Lachlan Galvin as long-term replacement for Daly Cherry-Evans, focusing on younger talent instead.
Manly is not lining Lachlan Galvin up as Daly Cherry-Evans' long-term replacement as NRL rivals ready themselves to make a big-money play for the exiled Tiger. It comes after Sea Eagles CEO Tony Mestrov confirmed his club had opened talks with Jamal Fogarty's management to get a clearer picture of the Canberra halfback's future beyond this year.
Galvin's dramatic stand-off with the Tigers, which has led to his axing from the NRL side, has a number of clubs watching with interest. Should Galvin - kicked to the kerb by the Tigers after knocking back a lucrative contract extension - be released early, up to half a dozen rivals will come after the gifted playmaker.
But the Sea Eagles won't be one of them. While in need of a new half to replace the departing DCE, the club is happy to keep nurturing lower grade playmakers Joey Walsh and Onitoni Large with a view to elevating them to the NRL within the next year or two.
