The Canberra Region Rugby League are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Richard 'Ricky' White, a legendary figure of the game in Canberra.

Ricky primarily represented a Gungahlin Bulls foundation club, the Belconnen United Panthers, formed in 1969 when the Belconnen District was only a few years old.

He captain-coached the Panthers in the 70s, guiding the side to their first premiership in 1975. He built the foundation for the club which propelled them to win five in a row under his leadership (1975-1979).

Congratulations to Liam Oakley (Tuggeranong Bushrangers), Jack Heyman (Tuggeranong Bushrangers), Tate Rhea (Belconnen United Sharks), and Mitch Shaw (West Belconnen Warriors) for their selection on the bench in the 2023 Canberra Raiders Cup Team of the Year.

This Sunday sees 79 teams descend on the Deakin Playing Fields for the inaugural Touch Football Territories Cup.

Teams are travelling from Dubbo, Orange, the Riverina, South Coast and Sydney to play against the local Affiliates, Canberra City Magic and Canberra Brindies.

The competition will be fierce as teams have a final pre-Christmas hit out in preparation for the NSW Junior State Cup in February.

Games tap off at 8am and finals commence at 3pm.
