    Bungendore set sights on elusive premiership

    Bungendore Tigers dominated GTS competition, earning Minor Premiership, proving themselves as a strong team.

    Throughout the 2024 Blumers Lawyers George Tooke Shield (GTS) competition, the Bungendore Tigers proved time and time again that they are the team to beat.

    Charging to an 11-1-2 record and the Minor Premiership, the Jack Bramley-led squad entered finals with a point to prove, winning their way into the Grand Final after a 19-4 victory over the Harden Hawks in the major semi-final.

    Harden has since bounced back, defeating the Binalong Brahmans 23-16 in Saturday's preliminary final.

    Luke Berkrey, a successful player and coach, takes over as coach for Yass Magpies in Canberra Cup.

    Three-time Group 9 premiership winner Luke Berkrey has been called upon to take the reins at Yass.

    A well-credentialed player and respected coach who helped lead the Gundagai Tigers to titles in 2018, 2020, and 2022, the 32-year-old bookend will take over from the outgoing Adam Kyle as the Magpies look to plan for the future.

    Berkrey, a player who likes to lead from the front, will be a good fit for the Magpies, who boasts a loyal supporter base desperate for Canberra Cup success following a myriad of lean seasons.

    Harden has booked a date with the Bungendore Tigers in the Blumers Lawyers George Tooke Shield Grand Final following a tantalising 23-16 victory over the Binalong Brahmans in their preliminary final at McLean Oval on Saturday.

    Played in sweltering conditions for August, the parochial Harden crowd was behind the Hawks from the outset, and it didn't take long for the home side to have their supporters up and cheering.
