    Monaro Colts women's and U16 teams lost their matches, ending their 2026 campaigns short of the Grand Final.

    The Monaro Colts Open Women's and Andrew Johns Cup sides suffered heartbreaking defeats last weekend which sees their 2026 campaigns come to an end.

    Newcastle Maitland Region Knights 32 def. Monaro Colts 26

    The Monaro Colts suffered a tight defeat against the Newcastle Maitland Region Knights to end their 2026 campaign one game short of the Grand Final. 

    Three unanswered tries in the first half set up the game for the Knights, with fullback Harlem Blair playing a key role in the nominated home side taking a 24-10 lead into the break.

  • Asbestos found in the ground at Canberra oval

    Asbestos at Phillip Enclosed disrupts Canberra's sportsground availability, affecting Woden Valley Rams and Canberra Royals' seasons and events.

    There was asbestos coming out of the ground at Phillip Enclosed.

    It means Canberra's sportsground shortage has taken another hit, with the ACT government losing the home of the Woden Valley Rams and Canberra Royals for the coming Canberra Raiders Cup and John I Dent Cup seasons respectively.

    It was also threatening to spoil the Rams' 60th birthday party this year after they'd hoped to have a festival of football at the end of May.

    Both teams have been in talks with the government to find another home, with Boomanulla Oval in Narrabundah initially considered for both clubs.

    The Monaro Colts return home to Seiffert Oval this weekend for another blockbuster five match program, with the Open Men's facing a tough task against the Newcastle Rebels, whilst the remaining teams take on the Western Rams.
