The Broncos edged out the Dolphins 18-12 in an epic inaugural Battle of Brisbane that lived up to the hype in front of 51,047 fans at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
The Dolphins took a shock 12-8 lead in the 63rd minute, before Kurt Capewell scored the match-winner and Kotoni Staggs sealed it at the death.
Wayne Bennett’s men hung tough despite losing hooker Kodi Nikorima (HIA) and halfback Sean O’Sullivan (torn pectoral) and winger Tesi Niu played injured for most of the match.
