    Canberra Daily

Foundation Canberra Raiders player Mick Tilse (Raider #16) has passed away, aged 67, following a long illness.

Tilse was part of the Raiders' inaugural squad in 1982, and played nine matches for the club in the Raiders' first-ever season.

Canberra Raiders chief executive officer Don Furner said the Tilse name had long been associated with the club.

"The Raiders would like to pass on their condolences to the Tilse family after the passing of Mick Tilse," he said.

The Dolphins secured a last-minute try, positioning themselves favorably for a Finals spot, while the Roosters kept their hopes alive at the expense of Manly. Meanwhile, both the Broncos and Sharks enjoyed decisive victories, solidifying their paths to the Finals. The weekend also witnessed the Tigers surprising the Bulldogs, the Titans pushing Penrith to Golden Point, and the Dragons taking down the previously dominant Raiders.

Brian To'o denied Phillip Sami a clear scoring opportunity through foul play, striking him across the chin as he was about to score. This was a textbook case for a penalty try, recognized by everyone but the Bunker official. Not surprisingly, the NRL has since admitted the mistake. It's evident that the official in question might not be adequate for the role.
