Raiders’ exit fears for Corey Horsburgh as Brisbane Broncos move looms

Corey Horsburgh may leave the Raiders for a Queensland team due to salary cap pressures, despite a contract until 2027.

The Australian

Maroons Origin forward Corey Horsburgh is considering quitting the Raiders and returning to Queensland in a move that could open the door for the Broncos, Titans and Dolphins.

This masthead understands Canberra won't stand in the way of Horsburgh leaving the club at season's end if the Raiders hitman can secure his future elsewhere in the NRL.

Horsburgh, Queensland's 20th man for the Origin decider last week, is contracted to the Raiders until the end of 2027 and Canberra are happy to honour the duration of his existing deal.

But Horsburgh risks being squeezed out of the Raiders due to salary-cap pressures, with the Green Machine confronting the prospect of 17 top-liners becoming free agents over the next 18 months.

The 28-year-old is on around $600,000 this season and with Horsburgh facing a six-figure pay cut to remain in the nation's capital, the front-row firebrand could opt to test his value on the open market.
