Ethan Strange is working to recover from an ankle injury for the State of Origin decider, with Burton as backup.

    The Canberra Times

Canberra Raiders young gun Ethan Strange is doing everything he can to be fit for next week's State of Origin decider.

Strange was seen wearing a moon boot at NSW Blues camp in Kingscliff on Thursday night, having rolled his ankle at training earlier in the day.

The Blues told The Canberra Times on Friday no decision had been made about Strange's availability for the Origin III decider at Lang Park on Wednesday night.

But Matt Burton has been brought into the squad for cover for Strange if the Raiders five-eighth was ruled out.

NSW Blues call up Matt Burton for injury cover as Ethan Strange may miss State of Origin decider after ankle injury.

    Zero Tackle

The NSW Blues have issued an S.O.S to Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs star Matt Burton, who has been rushed into camp as injury cover for Ethan Strange.

Strange rolled his ankle at Blues training yesterday on the Gold Coast, resulting in the star walking with a moon boot last night, creating speculation he could be ruled out for Wednesday's State of Origin decider.

It has caused alarm bells to ring across the Blues camp, with Nine reporting Burton will come into the camp and be on standby if Strange is deemed unfit by Wednesday.

The Canberra Raiders' star had one of the greatest Blues debuts ever in Game 1. He scored a try, made three tackle breaks and had his fingerprints all over the Blues' second-half assault on the Maroons, resulting in a last-minute try to James Tedesco to clinch victory.

Canberra Raiders' Ethan Strange faces an injury risk before the State of Origin decider after rolling his ankle in training.

    Zero Tackle

Canberra Raiders star Ethan Strange has come under an injury cloud in NSW's camp in Kingscliff ahead of the State of Origin decider.

Stange suffered his rolled ankle when the Blues trained at CBUS Super Stadium on Thursday, according to fresh reports from Nine.

Strange was a standout player in the Blues Game 1 side, scoring one try with three tackle busts and well over 100 metres gained in his debut appearance in the sky blue.

Strange has emerged as one of the game's best talents in the last 18 months, but was relegated to the bench in the second Origin fixture in favour of Mitchell Moses.
