  • Billy Walters confirms contract negotiations, unsure of future

Injury blow rocks Broncos ahead of preliminary final

Injured Billy Walters is negotiating his future with the Brisbane Broncos, but his contract status remains uncertain due to salary cap issues.

    Zero Tackle

Injured Brisbane Broncos dummy half Billy Walters has confirmed he is in negotiations with the club over his future, but no guarantee of remaining at Red Hill.

Walters, who injured his ACL in a qualifying final against the Canberra Raiders next year and missed the remainder of the finals series, is due back on the field in the coming weeks.

Off-contract at the end of 2026, every game will be a test of his future market value.

Brisbane have long been rumoured to be in a struggle to keep Walters given their own salary cap, with the club having plenty of big-money deals already out.

  • 'Ethan will be ready': Raiders star backed to shine with Daley to name Blues team

Ethan Strange could partner Nathan Cleary in the NSWRL squad as Mitchell Moses' fitness remains uncertain ahead of Game Two.

    The Canberra Times

Ethan Strange is being backed to help bring the State of Origin shield back to NSW as question marks hover over the fitness of Parramatta playmaker Mitchell Moses.

NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley is poised to name his squad for game two of the State of Origin series on Monday night, with Strange and Moses in the mix to partner Nathan Cleary in the halves.

Strange stole the show in a wild series opener but is no guarantee to start at five-eighth at the MCG on June 17, with Moses - who will miss Parramatta's King's Birthday clash with the Bulldogs - set to be given a deadline to prove his fitness to Daley.

Canberra Raiders star Hudson Young is poised to retain a place in the Blues' back-row, and he has backed his clubmate to shine if Moses succumbs to a hamstring injury.
