  • Sharks provide Braydon Trindall injury update

Six weeks to go: Every NRL team’s run home, likely final ladder, best and worst case scenarios

Braydon Trindall suffered a shoulder dislocation in a match; surgery avoided, rehabilitation underway for a possible return this season.

    Zero Tackle

The Cronulla Sharks have confirmed star five-eighth Braydon Trindall underwent scans on Sunday for his shoulder injury against the Canberra Raiders.

The scans returned with a confirmation of a shoulder dislocation, occurring in the fifth minute of play when Trindall kicked to himself, slamming the ball down in the in-goal area where he suffered the injury.

The Indigenous star was immediately taken off the field in discomfort, but was able to have his shoulder popped back in by Sharks medical staff with ease, indicating little to no structural damage and avoiding surgery for now.

The Sharks confirmed they will now work with Trindall to rehabilitate his shoulder in a bid to have their playmaker back on the field before the end of the season.

How the NRL narrowly avoided its own ‘Geelong moment’

The NRL avoided a liability waiver situation after the Raiders wouldn't let Corey Harawira-Naera sign it for future injuries.

    The Sydney Morning Herald

The NRL avoided its own "Geelong moment" after the Canberra Raiders refused to let Corey Harawira-Naera sign a waiver that would have seen him assume all responsibility for future on-field injuries.

The AFL was earlier this month rocked by reports that Geelong and Jake Kolodjashnij, a player with a history of concussive incidents, signed a legal waiver that protected the club as part of Kolodjashnij's continued employment.

The so-called liability waiver was never registered by the AFL.

Now this masthead can reveal a similar situation had almost unfolded in rugby league when Harawira-Naera was desperate to resume playing, despite suffering a seizure during a game in 2023.

Wests Tigers edged the Warriors 30-22, marking their third consecutive NRLW win and boosting hopes for their first finals appearance.

    The Canberra Times

Wests Tigers have inched closer to completing their remarkable NRLW turnaround, as they overcame an almighty scare to topple the Warriors 30-22.

In a potential early finals preview at CommBank Stadium on Sunday, the Tigers grittily secured a third consecutive win for the first time to boost their record to 5-2.

The result means the Tigers just need one more victory in their final four games to secure a winning record, which would all but guarantee a maiden finals berth.
