  • Short and not so sweet: Stuart provides brief assessment after Roosters rout

“You’re allowed to headbutt”: Stuart blasts new precedent, Carrigan to sweat on MRC

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart silent after 26-0 home loss to Sydney Roosters, highlighted by Mark Nawaqanitawase's hat-trick.

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart kept quiet after his side suffered a disappointing 26-0 defeat to the Sydney Roosters at home on Friday night.

The Raiders were held scoreless in front of their home crowd, led by a brilliant hat-trick from winger Mark Nawaqanitawase.

Nawaqanitawase crossed three times in the victory and continues to build a compelling case for higher representative honours before he departs for union, with State of Origin selections being suspected as a main motivator.

For Canberra, it was a frustrating night from start to finish as it failed to match the Roosters' polish and execution.

Mark Nawaqanitawase's hat-trick led the Roosters to a 26-0 win over Canberra, showcasing his impact post-injury and reaffirming their premiership potential.

    The Canberra Times

Winger Mark Nawaqanitawase and hooker Reece Robson have made triumphant returns from their hospital visits to power the Sydney Roosters to a rousing 26-0 victory against Canberra.

After a glittering start to their NRL season, the Roosters' star-studded side were held to a mere 16 points in the past two rounds, raising questions over their premiership credentials.

But Trent Robinson's men (8-4) showed that they shouldn't be ruled out as they transformed from their error-riddled performance against Melbourne at a nippy GIO Stadium on Friday.

NRL Round 14: Sydney Roosters win 26-0 over Canberra Raiders

Mark Nawaqanitawase shone with three tries, boosting his NSW State of Origin hopes as Roosters defeated Raiders 26-0.

    The Australian

Mark Nawaqanitawase has thrown a last minute Hail Mary for a NSW State of Origin debut with a three try performance for the Roosters in a chilly Canberra on Friday night.

Playing for the first time since suffering a syndesmosis injury in round nine, the rugby bound flyer, who won a Kangaroos jersey last year, threw his name in the ring for a spot in Laurie Daley's squad with a stirring all around performance.

The Roosters were brilliant in a game played in temperatures south of five degrees, humbling the Raiders 26-0 to snap a two-game losing streak.

Alongside Nawaqanitawase, Sam Walker and Daly Cherry-Evans dominated proceedings, Robert Toia was outstanding and Angus Crichton was back to his damaging best on the left edge.

It was a valuable two points for the Roosters who sit third on the ladder but face a tough month with games coming up against the Dolphins, Sharks and Broncos through a draining Origin period.
