Raiders star set for monster bay bump, new contract
Ethan Sanders confirms he will re-sign with Canberra Raiders by November 1, after winning rookie of the year.

Canberra Raiders star Ethan Sanders has confirmed he will be locked away on a new deal with the club by November 1.
The halfback had a slow start to his first-grade career in the nation's capital during 2026, but spend the second half of the year as one of Canberra's best players.
It was enough for him to be named rookie of the year at the Dally M Medal ceremony on Wednesday evening, with Sanders seeing off the challenge from Melbourne Storm debutant Cooper Clarke.
Sanders is off-contract at the end of 2027 and could talk to clubs about his future from November 1, but told Fox Sports that it won't be happening.

Because Ethan Sanders claimed the NRL's prestigious rookie of the year award at the Dally M Awards on Wednesday night to set up an intriguing pre-season battle with Coby Black in Canberra.
So if Raiders fans were looking for a silver lining after a tough year, this might be it.
Sanders beat Melbourne forward Cooper Clarke and Gold Coast youngster Oliver Pascoe to the crown - and there is every chance another Raiders halfback could claim the same award next year if Black's NRL debut is anything to go by.

Raiders eye Storm forward amid forward pack crisis
The Raiders are pursuing forward Josiah Pahulu to strengthen their pack ahead of the 2027 season.

The Canberra Raiders are looking to bring in yet another forward to rebuild their decimated pack ahead of the 2027 season.
This time, the Raiders are understood to be keen on Josiah Pahulu from the Melbourne Storm, who could join his third club having originally left the Gold Coast Titans in the middle of 2025 for the Storm.
His time in Melbourne has been well below expectations though, and it's understood the Auckland-born forward has been permitted to leave the Storm if he can find another club.
Once one of the more highly-rated young forwards in the game, Pahulu broke onto the scene at the Titans in early 2024, having worked his way through pathways on the Gold Coast where he captained the Ipswich State High School team that won the NRL Schoolboy Cup in 2022.
