  • Breakout Raider cops injury blow ahead of Tigers clash

“Valuable” Raiders utility earns new contract after breakout season

Canberra Raiders star Simi Sasagi suffers a hamstring injury ahead of the match against Wests Tigers.

    Zero Tackle

The Canberra Raiders have copped another injury blow ahead of their clash with the Wests Tigers, with breakout star Simi Sasagi suffering a hamstring injury.

Sasagi has been one of Canberra's best over the opening six weeks of the campaign, taking a surprise centre spot from Matt Timoko to open the campaign and not relinquishing it.

Ricky Stuart suggested early on that he would at some point revert to the bench or a second-row position, but the Knights' junior's form in the centres has been so strong that it hasn't come close to reality yet.

Savelio Tamale last week made way from the 17 for the return of Timoko, with Sasagi's form forcing Sebastian Kris to the wing.

  • The Mole: Dragons 'hit list' revealed as stars on 'big dollars' in limbo

    Gold Coast Titans

Dragons are creating a player 'hit list' for next season after a poor start, seeking improved halves options.

    Wide World of Sports

Dragons officials are preparing a 'hit list' of players off contract for next season in a desperate bid for a quick fix in the post-Shane Flanagan era.

Wide World of Sports revealed this month that the club was set for a cleanout following the dismal start to 2026, with 11 players coming off contract, most of whom will not be re-signed.

Several players on big dollars under contract for 2027 will also be given the option to "look around".

But what the club really needs is strike power from the halves, with the Daniel Atkinson-Kyle Flanagan combination failing to ignite the attack this season.

  • Team lists: Kyle Flanagan dropped as interim coach Dean Young puts his stamp on Dragons for Anzac Day clash

    Gold Coast Titans

Kyle Flanagan drops to NSW Cup as Kade Reed makes his NRL debut for the Dragons against the Roosters.

    Wide World of Sports

Kyle Flanagan has been dropped by the Dragons as Dean Young puts his stamp on the team for the Anzac Day clash against the Roosters, with highly touted 20-year-old Kade Reed thrust into the No.7 jersey for a baptism of fire.

A constant source of criticism for Shane Flanagan was his continued selection of his son Kyle at halfback.

Now, only 24 hours after Shane was sacked as head coach, Kyle has been dropped to NSW Cup and Reed named for his NRL debut at Allianz Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
