Bailey Simonsson requests release from the Parramatta Eels, despite being under contract until 2027.

An outside back for the Parramatta Eels has reportedly requested a release from the club, even though he is under contract through the end of the 2027 NRL season.

Bailey Simonsson, one of the first players extended by Jason Ryles after he took over as coach last year, has proven to be a consistent and reliable player in the club's backline for the past four seasons.

Previously a member of the Canberra Raiders, the injury-prone player just celebrated his 100-game milestone. However, he has faced limited playing time recently, appearing in only two first-grade matches since Round 10.

Front runner emerges for Raiders prop after club tour

The Newcastle Knights pursue Canberra prop Trey Mooney, who seeks opportunities beyond the Raiders.

    Zero Tackle

The Newcastle Knights have taken strides to lead the race for Canberra Raiders prop Trey Mooney, with the forward touring facilities in the Hunter.

Mooney has been given permission to leave at the end of 2025 by the Raiders as he searches for opportunity in the top grade.

That's something that won't happen in the nation's capital, with Joseph Tapine, Corey Horsburgh and Morgan Smithies set to own the two prop and lock jerseys next year.

Josh Papalii is also set to re-sign with the club. He was originally looking to head to England, but a change of heart and an appetite to keep him in Canberra from the club will now likely see him extend his tenure into 2026 with the Raiders.

    LeagueNews.co

The Raiders' surprising defeat to the Dragons has created an opportunity for the Storm to aim for their seventh minor premiership.

Facing a challenging concluding schedule that includes two matches against the Broncos, along with games against the Panthers, Bulldogs, and Roosters, the Storm is aware of the intensity that comes with late-season competition.

Should they secure a spot in the top four and regain star playmaker Jahrome Hughes for the finals, the Storm could emerge as serious contenders for the championship.
