NRL opens the door for one of the game's biggest nights to come to Canberra
NRL allows Canberra Stadium to host prelim finals if Raiders earn home advantage; focus is on upcoming match.

The NRL has cleared the way for one of the biggest games on the calendar to return to Canberra Stadium as the ladder-leading Raiders close in on their best crowd figures in 31 years.
Canberra Stadium will be eligible to host a preliminary final if the Raiders earn home ground advantage during September's finals series, in what would be a major coup for both the club and the city.
But you can guarantee talk of a preliminary final berth will not breach the four walls of Ricky Stuart's football department as his side turns their attention to a clash with the Newcastle Knights, with another bumper crowd expected at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

The 2025 U18 Australian Schoolgirls team has been announced following the conclusion of the Under-18s ASSRL National Championships last Friday.
In the second year of the competition, Coffs Harbour hosted teams from NSW Combined High Schools, NSW Combined Catholic Colleges, NSW Combined Independent Schools, Queensland Representative Secondary Schools, ACT, Victoria, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
Meanwhile, Deleni Paitai was named the Player of the Tournament after a stellar showing for Queensland.

Veteran Raiders enforcer Josh Papalii is reportedly getting cold feet regarding a move to England to join the Super League at the end of the 2025 NRL season.

Raiders powerbrokers are reportedly exploring the prospect of re-signing the veteran enforcer for a further season, with a new contract being "under consideration".
The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to St Helens after Canberra bosses reportedly informed him they were unable to offer him a fresh contract.
However, according to Channel 9's Danny Weidler, Papalii "is having second thoughts about wanting to go to England".
