The stars are aligning as the Canberra Raiders look to end a 35-year wait for a minor premiership with rugby league legend Brad Fittler tipping them as a team to beat as they chase one of the most unlikely stories in NRL history.

An eight-minute blitz orchestrated by the Raiders' baby brigade saw Canberra pile 40 points on the Parramatta Eels and keep them at the top of the NRL ladder after 20 rounds. Corey Harawira-Naera faces health concerns before potential return to football after seizure.

After Canberra Raiders enforcer Corey Harawira-Naera suffered a frightening on-field seizure in 2023, many believed his career to be over.

However, despite being diagnosed with a heart condition that led to the requirement of an implanted defibrillator being inserted into his chest, the 30-year-old looks set to make his return to footy.

The Raiders, however, are less convinced.

It has been reported that Canberra are not willing to risk Harawira-Naera's health following the traumatic seizure that forced him out of the game.

Raiders win 40-16 against Eels; Timoko regrets missed try, maintaining NRL ladder lead.

Raiders winger Matt Timoko will be kept up all night tonight after bombing a certain try against the Eels.

However, there was one moment in particular that wasn't so pretty.

Saturday afternoon's
win over Parramatta
wasn't pretty, but a powerful second-half surge helped see the Raiders maintain their spot at the top of the NRL ladder and edge closer to a first minor premiership since 1990.

Playing in front of a sold-out GIO Stadium on a stunning winter's Saturday afternoon, the Raiders weren't at their best, but were still way too good for a plucky Eels side, scoring 28 second-half points and running out 40-16 winners.

The victory was Canberra's eighth straight and fittingly was played in the presence of a host of Raiders legends returning to honour the club's history in their annual Forever Green celebration.
