Morgan Smithies is negotiating a contract extension with the Raiders through 2029.

Canberra Raiders forward Morgan Smithies is in the process of negotiating his long-term future, with a contract extension reportedly on the table through to the end of 2029.

Smithies has been a revelation with the Raiders since joining from the English Super League, with his hard-nosed play on the edge and in the middle seeing him become a permanent part of Ricky Stuart's best 17 who took out the minor premiership in 2025.

All signs point to him re-signing though, with The Canberra Times reporting a three-year extension through to the end of 2029 is on the table.

CEO Don Furner revealed Smithies' contract negotiations were on hold while he was overseas, having played in the Rugby League World Cup, and then being on holidays, but admitted they are keen to get a deal done before the end of the year.

Former rugby league forward Adam Elliott, who has played for teams including the Newcastle Knights, Canberra Raiders, and Canterbury Bulldogs, is eager to finalize a new contract by the year's end.

During an appearance on SEN Radio, Elliott shared that while he had no major updates to announce, there is ongoing activity among various clubs, and he is keen to resolve his contract situation swiftly.

"Not really. There probably isn't enough for me to break, I don't think at the moment, but we are definitely working hard," Elliott remarked.

Former Newcastle Knights, Canberra Raiders and Canterbury Bulldogs forward Adam Elliott has revealed he wants to have a new contract signed by the end of the year.

The forward, speaking on SEN Radio, confirmed he had no news to break, but said there was movement with clus, and that he wants to have it sorted quickly.

"I've been on the phone to my manager earlier and on the weekend, and I'm waiting to get a call from him to hopefully get a little bit of information about some movement.

"Ideally, I would have loved to have had it all sorted by now, but we are in agreement that we want to put the foot down now and get it done before Day 1 of 2026 because I want to hit the ground running.
