Ricky Stuart reunites with former NRL prop Adrian Morley to mentor Canberra Raiders' English recruits.

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart welcomed an old mate to the capital last weekend in a low-key reunion that also gave the Green Machine's English recruits a valuable new mentor.

Adrian Morley was a legendary NRL prop in the 2000s playing for the Sydney Roosters under Stuart. The pair triumphed in the 2002 grand final when the Tri Colours defeated the Warriors, and Morley also played in two subsequent season-deciders that the Roosters lost.

Morley and Stuart have maintained their friendship over the years and it could be argued the former front-rower was the Canberra coach's original inspiration for his ongoing affinity for English players.

Brumbies thrived while Raiders struggled during the Super League era, causing tension and complaints about coverage.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, during and after the Super League war, the Brumbies were the talk of the city, drawing capacity crowds, while the Raiders struggled to regain lost ground.

I well remember receiving multiple calls from people connected to the Raiders complaining about the coverage given to the Brumbies as the Raiders battled for airtime.

From my perspective, it was acrimonious from a Raiders perspective, while the Brumbies just forged ahead.

Wayne Bennett and Craig Bellamy's intertwined rugby league careers, from competing in the 1980s to coaching success.

In sport, some individuals' careers seem to be intertwined. In rugby league, there's no greater example than Wayne Bennett and Craig Bellamy.

These two blokes have been playing cat and mouse since the 1980s.

Bellamy was a foundation player of the Canberra Raiders, a club who, in 1987, were sick of underachieving and signed Bennett to co-coach alongside Don Furner.

The first thing Bennett did was implement a new fitness regimen, including a 10km torture run which the players would endure once a week.
