In front of the biggest opening home crowd in 26 years, the underdog Raiders produced heroes across the park, while Brisbane's big-name stars failed to fire a shot in the 32-22 upset.

Australian rugby league fans outside of Canberra may not have been familiar with Matty Nicholson's game before Saturday night.

After 80 minutes, two tries, two linebreaks, and 33 tackles, they certainly know now.

The 21-year-old Englishman can expect a few more Instagram followers, media requests and high fives around Canberra in the coming weeks after that blistering NRL debut performance, but he's keeping his head firmly on his shoulders amidst the hype.
