    ‘That killed me’: How dad’s act of tough love turned humble country kid into Blues icon

    Laurie Daley transitioned from player to coach, achieving success in rugby league and media.

    Laurie Daley has relived his rise from humble beginnings in Junee to premiership winning Raiders star, Blues and Kangaroos representative and now NSW Origin coach for the second time.

    Post career he carved out a successful TV and radio career in rugby league and has coached NSW Country, the Indigenous All Stars and the NSW Blues.

    The now 55-year-old had a glittering rugby league career that included 87 tries in 245 games for the Raiders from 1987 to 2000 and three premierships with the Green Machine.

    Daley also scored six tries in 23 Origins for the Blues and 15 tries in 26 Tests for the Kangaroos, captaining both his state and his country.

    Raiders rookie re-signs until the end of 2028

    The Canberra Raiders re-signed Savelio Tamale for two additional seasons, securing him until 2028.

    The Canberra Raiders have strengthened their long-term roster by re-signing Savelio Tamale for another two seasons, securing his place in green until the end of 2028.

    Tamale was already contracted to the club until the end of 2026, but an impressive start to his time in Canberra has seen him rewarded with a contract extension.

    In his 14 appearances so far this year, Tamale has scored six tries and averaged over 150 running metres per game, with 15 line breaks this season. The 20-year-old was in the discussion for the NRL rookie of the year award before dislocating his kneecap...
