Jack Wighton's Canberra Raiders teammates have backed the star five-eighth becoming the latest inclusion in the $1 million club.

The Raiders have offered the 30-year-old a $4.4 million, four-year deal after he knocked back an option for next year and instead decided to test the open market.

Redcliffe Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett was reportedly set to meet with Wighton, having also said he valued the representative playmaker as worth more than $1 million per season.

Jack Wighton is poised to join the NRL's million-dollar club should he pen a new deal with Canberra, and his teammates maintain he'd be worth every penny.

Wighton shocked many when he declined a player option for 2024 to test the open market, but the Raiders have moved quickly to try and lock up their best player by reportedly offering him a four-year contract worth $4.4 million.

He's been linked with a move to Queensland with Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett suggesting he'd pay Wighton more than $1 million per season if they think he's the right fit.

Jack Wighton yet to activate clause for 2024

Forget the Dolphins or a $4 million offer from the Raiders, we hear there's a new player on the Jack Wighton contract bingo card - rugby union.

It was only a matter of time before rugby emerged as a Wighton option a week after Joseph Suaalii made the switch on a lucrative $1.6 million per season deal.

Word is Wighton wants a premiership to go with his million-dollar salary, and where's he most likely to get that? Probably the ACT Brumbies.
