  • Raider's contract boost in wake of bitter injury blow as Manly shop Schoupp

    David Polkinghorne

Savelio Tamale nears a two-year deal, while recovering from a knee injury; surgery decision pending.

    The Canberra Times

Savelio Tamale is in the final stages of agreeing to a new two-year deal in a big boost that will hopefully go some way to counteracting the blow of his long-term knee injury.

The news comes as the Canberra Raiders have knocked back a loan offer of Manly centre Aaron Schoupp, which would have linked him up with his brother Blake - who plays for the ACT Brumbies, but is currently recovering from an Achilles injury.

Tamale will be out for at least 10-12 weeks with a dislocated kneecap and will find out if he need surgery when he meets the specialist next week.

The Maroons' forward pack was badly beaten in Origin I as NSW...
