    Canberra aims for Corey Horsburgh to play against Canterbury, pending concussion protocols after his head injury.

    Canberra will attempt to have Corey Horsburgh play in their bumper top-of-the-table clash with Canterbury, with the in-form prop pushing to pass concussion protocols.

    Horsburgh was taken from the field late in the Raiders' golden-point win over Melbourne at Magic Round, when he copped a head knock while making a tackle.

    The Queensland State of Origin hopeful was later spotted holding a beer in the sheds, and is expected to face more tests later this week before a call is made.

    Canberra are on the verge of a securing a significant recruitment win, with off-contract hooker Tom Starling poised to knock back interest from elsewhere and stay at the Raiders.

    One week after Canberra lost halfback Jamal Fogarty to Manly for next season, AAP understands the Raiders are edging closer to a two-year deal with Starling.

    The hooker has enjoyed arguably the best season of his 118-game NRL career, with the 26-year-old excelling as a starting No. 9.
