Wayne Bennett has snubbed Lewis Dodd in a halves shake-up, while the Dragons have axed Lachlan Ilias and Des Hasler has lost patience with David Fifita.

NRL star Tom Starling claims he did not grip a police gun before being assaulted at a party.

An NRL star says he may have brushed past a police officer's gun holster, but did not grip it before officers punched him repeatedly in a chaotic birthday party brawl.

Canberra Raiders lock Tom Starling was allegedly set upon by police and punched in the head until he blacked out during the December 2020 incident at a NSW bar.

Sergeant Evan Huw Prowse, 38, and Senior Constable Steven Lockwood Brown, 50, have pleaded not guilty to assaulting the now-26-year-old.

Starling told a court on Tuesday he did not grip onto a police officer's gun holster before he was struck.

Jamal Fogarty leaves Canberra Raiders for Manly Sea Eagles on a three-year, $2 million deal.

Jamal Fogarty has officially quit the Canberra Raiders to sign a three-year, $2 million deal at the Manly Sea Eagles.

The halfback walked into Ricky Stuart's office in Canberra on Tuesday morning to reveal a decision which Fogarty has agonised over for weeks.

Stuart accepted the news and vowed that Fogarty would remain an integral part of the club's premiership charge this year.

Fogarty signed with Manly as a replacement for Daly Cherry-Evans.

Canberra will prepare boom, former Parramatta Eels halfback Ethan Sanders to replace Fogarty long term.
