    Raiders captain Joseph Tapine has revealed he "got addicted to pokies" early in his NRL career, admitting it was the "harshest lesson" he had to endure.

    The 30-year-old has become one of the most respected players in the game in recent years, starring for Canberra at club level and for the Kiwis on the international stage.

    Tapine burst onto the scene over a decade ago with the Knights, before taking his talents down to the nation's capital and establishing himself as an elite front-rower.

    Ricky Stuart says Jason Croker wants Papali'i to retire to protect games record.

    With a glint in his eye and a cheeky grin, Ricky Stuart says his former teammate Jason Croker's always asking him to retire enforcer Josh Papali'i - to keep his games record in tact.

    Croker's the Canberra Raiders' record-holder for games played with 318, but Papali'i's closing in on him and will move into outright second when he runs out against Manly at Brookvale on Sunday.

    Papali'i's currently played 307 NRL games - the same number as former teammate Jarrod Croker.

  • Raiders star in conversations with other clubs

    Tom Starling has spoken with multiple clubs, including the Raiders, but no formal offers yet.

    Tom Starling's had conversations with "a few clubs", but at this stage there's nothing formal on the table for the off-contract Canberra Raiders hooker.

    That's included talks with the Raiders, who have already signed former Newcastle captain Jayden Brailey and young gun Owen Pattie for 2026 and beyond.

    But Raiders legend Mal Meninga believes there needs to be three hookers in the top-30 squad.
