    The scary thing is Kaeo Weekes didn't even come to Canberra to play fullback.

    If it wasn't for Jordan Rapana, then the best young No.1 in the NRL mightn't be where he is today - extending and upgrading a contract that already ran until the end of 2027.

    And as far as knocking back the New Zealand Kiwis? That wasn't so much a "no" as a "not now", with the fleet-footed fullback wanting to keep his representative options open to include State of Origin.

    NRL considering shock Origin eligibility rule change

    Debate on player eligibility for state and international representation in rugby league continues.

    The question as to whether a player should be allowed to represent their state and an overseas country has long been debated in rugby league circles.

    As it currently stands, players who have represented a Tier 1 nation, which includes New Zealand and England, cannot also feature in State of Origin.

    According to the Sydney Morning Herald, ARLC chairman V'landys confirmed he was prepared to revisit Origin qualification rules to ensure New Zealand's playing stocks were not diminished.

    This came after Kaeo Weekes turned his back on New Zealand Rugby League in favour of Australia, with hopes he can represent his state down the track.

    George Williams will stay with Warrington Wolves after failed transfer to The Dolphins.

    A decision has been made on the future of English international and former Canberra Raiders halfback George Williams after he expressed his desire to return to the NRL and was even heavily linked with a move to The Dolphins.

    Last playing in the NRL in 2021, Williams has been in solid form overseas in the Super League this season and is even expected to earn a recall to the England national team in the Ashes series against Australia at the end of the year.

    However, a move to the Queensland club has since fallen through after the two teams failed to come to an agreement over a potential transfer fee, meaning the halfback will remain at the Warrington Wolves for 2026, per All Out...
