In-form Canberra second-rower Zac Hosking will happily shift to a bench role when captain Elliott Whitehead returns from injury, despite a pair of standout performances to start his time in green.

Hosking, who's quickly won the hearts of Raider fans, has created another selection headache for coach Ricky Stuart after Canberra's 2-0 start.

Already trying to find space for State of Origin prop Corey Horsburgh after English import Morgan Smithies made the No.13 jersey his own, Stuart must also choose between Hosking, Whitehead and Hudson Young for two edge roles.

Canberra Stadium smell blamed on Canberra Raiders storing equipment in inappropriate area during game.

The fallout from the foul "stench" in the bowels of Canberra Stadium reached a crescendo on Monday when Sport Minister Yvette Berry blamed the Canberra Raiders for the source of the smell.

In a curious case of "poo dunnit", Berry said at a press conference on Monday the Raiders "inadvertently" caused the odour underneath the Mal Meninga grandstand. She said the NRL team was "using a space that wasn't appropriate to store equipment" during their home clash against the Wests Tigers.

It may only be Round 3, but several NRL clubs have been hit with injuries and suspensions to star players, while another coach has decided to axe a star halfback after two consecutive losses.
