The Canberra Raiders are a better chance of winning the premiership this season than in 2019, when they went all the way to the grand final only to lose to Sydney Roosters in controversial circumstances.

That's not to say they will automatically go one better - it obviously doesn't work like that - but this is a more open competition than the 2019 version and as such a more winnable one for the Raiders.

Six years ago, Melbourne and the Roosters were standout teams. Melbourne had thrashed North Queensland to win the 2017 grand final and then lost to the Roosters in the 2018 decider.

Chevy Stewart, contracted until 2026, can explore options despite limited NRL appearances at 20.

Canberra Raiders youngster Chevy Stewart looks as though he'll be at a different club in 2026.

Despite being contracted in the capital until the end of next season, the club have given him permission to explore his options.

Signed from the Sharks with views to being the long-term option in the one, Stewart has played NRL on just three occasions.

That said, at just 20 years of age, this kid has all the talent to forge out a super NRL career in the coming years.

Former Under-19s NSW Blues representatives, Chevy Stewart and Trey Mooney have reportedly been granted immediate permission by the Canberra Raiders to speak with rival teams and leave the club at the end of the season.

One of the next generation of fullback stars alongside Liam Ison, Sua Fa'alogo and Isaiah Iongi, Stewart's future in Canberra has seemingly been clouded in uncertainty over the past few months.

On the outer, Stewart has now been granted immediate permission to speak with rival teams and free to leave at the end of the 2025 season alongside teammate Trey Mooney, per The Daily Telegraph.
