    Canberra will be without Sebastian Kris for their NRL finals campaign after the utility back copped a hefty ban for an ugly spear tackle on Cronulla's Sione Katoa.

    Kris has accepted a five-game suspension for the incident in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Sharks, having been sent off in the 60th minute of the clash at PointsBet Stadium.

    Raiders captain Elliott Whitehead accepted in his post-game press conference that Kris deserved to be marched for the tackle, although coach Ricky Stuart insisted he had not seen the incident.

    Sebastian Kris's NRL season is officially over after the Canberra Raiders back was hit with a massive five-week ban for his terrible spear tackle on Cronulla winger Sione Katoa.

    He could choose to the fight the charge, risking a six-week suspension.

    That meant even if the Raiders make the grand final he'll play no further part in the 2023 campaign - unless there's a miracle and he was cleared.

    Raiders star Seb Kris was sent off following an ugly spear tackle that Sharks winger Sione Katoa was lucky to walk away from on Sunday.

    Canberra were trailing 10-6 but looking to take the lead with 21 minutes to play when Jamal Fogarty put a kick up for Jack Wighton who leapt high but couldn't come down with it to score.

    Instead it was Katoa who plucked it out of the air and was then running it off his own line when Kris picked him up and drilled him into the ground.
