The Sydney Roosters players are confident that their recent strong performance will have their finals rivals looking over their shoulders.

The team has managed to win five consecutive matches, including a 26-12 triumph over the Rabbitohs which ended their season.

To secure a finals berth, the Roosters only need either the Cowboys or Raiders to lose.

If they do make it to the finals, they will face either the Knights or Sharks next weekend.

Raiders star's season over, hit with monster ban after send off for 'awful' spear tackle

    Wide World of Sports

Sebastian Kris will play no part in Canberra's finals campaign after being slapped with a five-game ban following his send off for a spear tackle on Sione Katoa during the Raiders' 24-6 loss to the Sharks.

The incident in the 60th minute was deemed a grade three dangerous throw by the NRL match review committee on Monday.

If he enters an early guilty plea, Kris will be suspended for five matches. However, if he fights the charge unsuccessfully, he will cop a six match ban. Either scenario will likely put him out for the first month of next season.
