    Raiders move to secure young gun Kaeo Weekes for a further two seasons

    Kaeo Weekes will extend his Raiders contract for two more years, securing him until 2027.

    Canberra's superb season is set to continue with one of the game's most improved players in Kaeo Weekes set to ink a long-term deal to remain at the Raiders.

    The Raiders will lock down the 23-year-old despite his contract not expiring until the end of 2027.

    It is understood that he will recommit to the club for a further two years keeping him contracted at Canberra for the next four seasons.

    Canberra's decision to fast-track a new deal will stop the potential threat of the NRL's two new expansion clubs in Perth and PNG from attempting to steal Weekes.

    The Canberra Raiders are set to make a move to ensure Kaeo Weekes remains in the capital in what will be the young star's second contract extension in under 12 months.

    Weekes inked a two-year extension with the club in September last year but coach Ricky Stuart is hopeful he can keep the young talent in the green jersey for a little while longer.

    The Sydney Morning Herald reports the Raiders have agreed to a contract upgrade for the 23-year-old, with the deal set to make him one of the club's highest paid players.
