Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has declared Friday's game against the Warriors should never have got to golden point, taking aim at referees over a controversial call in

Canberra looked destined for a comprehensive defeat before two quickfire tries saw Stuart's side draw level with the Warriors in the final minute at Go Media Stadium.

Jarrod Croker then missed what would have been the game-winning conversion from the sideline, seeing the game sent to golden point before Shaun Johnson nailed a field goal.

It was a crushing defeat for the Raiders, who were praised by Stuart for almost pulling off a victory in a game that few people gave them a chance in according to the Canberra coach.

The Warriors have won a thrilling golden-point battle over Canberra after Shaun Johnson kicked a 35-metre field goal in a 21-20 victory that consolidates a top-four position on the NRL ladder.

Seemingly cruising to victory with a 20-10 lead, the Warriors let in two late tries to allow the visitors to level the scores.

In a dramatic finish with two minutes of normal time left, Elliott Whitehead scored on the short side and Jarrod Croker's conversion split the posts.

From the kick-off, the Raiders spread it wide and Jack Wighton was on hand to race away and score in the opposite corner.

Shaun Johnson's season has gone from brilliant to unbelievable after the star's golden point field goal delivered the Warriors a 21-20 win over the Raiders.

The halfback has now propelled himself into Dally M medal contention after sitting in 10th when voting went behind closed doors in round 12.

Heading into Friday night's game in Auckland, the Raiders sat one spot above the Warriors in fourth, however the latter has now leapt ahead of them into third, with the Storm still yet to play this round.
