Kalyn Ponga put his thumb up - and Newcastle Knights fans breathed out.
Following a clumsy and dangerous challenge for a high ball by Sebastian Kris during the Knights' 28-6 domination of Canberra at GIO Stadium on Saturday, Ponga's legs flipped into the air and he fell heavily, laying on his side for several moments.
As teammates showed concern for the concussion-prone superstar, Ponga took a knee, took a breath and gave a thumbs up, much to the relief of Knights fans. Kris was put on report.
Newcastle's charge towards the NRL finals has continued with the Knights taking down Canberra 28-6 behind a scintillating performance from Kalyn Ponga.
In their fourth straight win, the Knights led 26-0 on 50 minutes having capitalised on a deplorable first half from the Raiders to move within a point of the NRL's top eight.
Star No.1 Ponga looked his unstoppable best from the outset at GIO Stadium, busting through the Canberra line in the first set of the game to establish the tempo for a majestic display that included a try, eight tackle busts, 165m and three line break assists.
When the Canberra Raiders lose at home, they don't do things by halves.
All four of their losses at Canberra Stadium this season have been by at least 22 points, their latest a 28-6 thrashing by the Newcastle Knights on Saturday.
They've also been beaten by Penrith (41 points), Manly (28) and the New Zealand Warriors (22) at home this season.
