The Canberra Raiders have made a stunning move to enter a new race to sign David Fifita, tabling an upgraded deal just days after Ricky Stuart got a first-hand look what what he's trying to buy.

Fifita is back on the open market after News Corp revealed a clause in his contract opened the door for him to leave the Gold Coast Titans after the club sacked coach Justin Holbrook.

The Titans beat the Raiders in the bid for Fifita's signature in March after the barnstorming representative forward opted to stay put rather than taking a chance in Canberra.

Cody Walker has ousted Jarome Luai from the NSW side for the third State of Origin match, with coach Brad Fittler recalling Clint Gutherson and dropping Canberra's Hudson Young as the Blues push to avoid a series whitewash.

Bradman Best and Keaon Koloamatangi will earn their Origin debuts as part of seven changes to the side that lost 32-6 in Origin II last month.

Of those left out, only injured centre Tom Trbojevic and Payne Haas were unavailable, with the latter succumbing to an ankle injury he has been battling since May and aggravated playing for Brisbane on Saturday night.

NSW coach Brad Fittler has dumped Jarome Luai for the third game of the State of Origin series, recalled Cody Walker and handed debuts to Keaon Koloamatangi and Bradman Best as the Blues plot to avoid a series whitewash.

Luai, Hudson Young, Tyson Frizell and Junior Paulo have paid the price for the Blues' hefty loss in Origin II and will not feature in the series finale on July 12 in Sydney.

Wests Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu, afforded only 12 minutes of game-time on debut, has also missed out.

The NRL's leader in try assists, South Sydney five-eighth Walker has beaten Luai in the battle to partner Mitch Moses in the halves.
